Golf Course Square is near dozens of outdoor activities.
The Mount Vernon Trail (a walkable half a mile away) is a nearly 18 mile trail that runs follows Potomac’s Virginia shoreline from Theodore Roosevelt Island (near Rossyln, Virginia) to Mount Vernon. Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve (a walkable half a mile away) is “one of the largest remaining freshwater tidal wetlands in the Washington metropolitan area. Its 485 acres of tidal marsh, floodplain, and swamp forest can be explored by boat or on foot.” Make sure to take the trail all the way to the end for an amazing view of the Potomac. Belle Haven Marina (a walkable half a mile away) is a “quaint, scenic marina owned by the National Park Service and operated by Belle Haven Marina Inc.” where you can rent boats, canoes, and kayaks. Huntley Meadows Park (two miles away) is over 1,500 acres of majestic forests, wildflower-speckled meadows and vast wetlands bursting with life. "From the wetland boardwalk trail and observation tower, people have excellent views of beavers, frogs, dragonflies and herons. Huntley Meadows is well known as a prime birding spot, with over 200 species identified in the park." |
George Washington's house at Mount Vernon (8 miles away) is listed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks.
Torpedo Factory Art Center (4 miles away) is a former World War II torpedo plant converted into 82 working artist studios and six galleries. Kennedy Center (8 miles away) is one of the best known performance halls in the country. George Washington Masonic National Memorial (3 miles away) is more than 300 foot tall memorial built in honor of George Washington. From the top, you can see all of Alexandria. The Birchmere (3 miles away) is a legendary music hall that is has been bringing great concerts to Alexandria for 50 years. Little Theatre of Alexandria (3 miles away) is the oldest award-winning theater in the Washington metro area. Each year puts on an ambitious seven shows. |

The Belle Haven Country Club (a walkable half a mile away) is almost a century-old private country club with a 18-hole golf course, tennis complex, and a 2,500 sq. foot fitness center, including an outdoor pool.
Mount Vernon Recreational Center (a walkable half mile away) “has a 25-meter heated indoor pool with poolside spa, a beach area with play features, Fitness Center, dance room, and a year-round 200 foot by 85 foot indoor ice rink.” |
Water Park at the Lee Recreational Center (4 miles away) is a free Chesapeake Bay-themed attractions including a spraying osprey nest, Chessie the sea serpent, misting sunflowers and a lighthouse.
Five playgrounds are within walking distance. Chinquapin Park Recreation Center and Aquatics Facility (10 miles away) has an indoor playroom for children. |
