At the center of our community is a beautiful ¾ acre park that overflows with flowers in the summer months. Go running or biking on the Mt. Vernon Trail's 18 miles of paved trails that run from George Washington's Mount Vernon to Theodore Roosevelt Island. Or take a walk through Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve, with 485 acres of tidal marsh, floodplain and swamp forest. Golf Course Square offers the perfect combination of tranquility and accessibility. |
A Walk Through History |
|
Golf Course Square is maintained by the Olde Belhaven Towne Owners Association (OBTOA), which was formed in 1968. The land was originally owned by the Belle Haven Country Club and was part of the 2nd and 3rd holes on the golf course. It was purchased by J.E. & E.N. Hooper, Inc., who built the community. Development, however, took longer than expected and in some cases owners were forced to move in while work was still being performed on their homes. One original homeowner fondly recalls living in her house before the stairs were completed. As can be seen in this photograph, our beautifully-landscaped square was mountains of dirt that turned into giant mud puddles when it rained. In fact, for years after development began, the community jokingly referred to it as Mud Course Square. Eventually, the construction was completed, and Golf Course Square became the scenic spot that we know today.
The community celebrated its 50th anniversary in August 2018. In that time, Golf Course Square has seen hundreds of community members come and go. Yet, we are lucky enough to have many long time homeowners, including one of the original residents and another who grew up in the community and moved back to raise his own children here. |

Our community has 44 townhouses that are comprised of two different layouts. One model is shown here in the original materials created by J.E. & E.N. Hooper, Inc. The houses have four bedrooms (or three bedrooms and a den) and three and a half bathrooms. They each have three levels, with a walk out basement that exits into a peaceful backyard enclosed garden.
We are located in the Fairfax County School District, that has some of the best public schools in Virginia (as well as the entire country). Our local schools:
